What it is

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, available on the web, desktop and mobile apps. It writes and edits text, researches the web, reads long documents, builds artifacts (documents, small apps, diagrams) and creates files such as documents and slide decks. It is text-first: Claude does not generate images, video or audio.

Models inside

Pricing and rights

As of September 2026: Free ($0) includes Sonnet and Haiku, web search, file creation, artifacts, skills, connectors and up to 5 projects. Pro costs $20/month or $17/month billed annually and adds Opus, Fable, Claude Code, research and unlimited projects. Max 5x is $100/month and Max 20x costs more. Team seats are $25/month ($20 annual), Premium seats $125/month, and Enterprise is $20/seat plus API usage. Anthropic's consumer terms assign you its rights in outputs, so you can publish and sell what you write; you may not use the service to build a competing product or resell it.

Writers, editors, marketers and researchers who care about prose quality and long documents, and technical creators who want skills and MCP connectors to automate content work.

Verdict

Claude is one of the strongest writing and editing assistants, and skills plus connectors make it easy to plug into content workflows. It is text-only, so pair it with separate image, video and voice tools, and heavy users may hit usage limits on Pro.
