What it is

This is Anthropic's public repository of Agent Skills, the folders of instructions and scripts (each with a SKILL.md) that Claude loads on demand. It holds the document skills that power Claude's file creation (docx, pptx, xlsx, pdf) plus example skills for creative and communication work such as brand guidelines, canvas design, algorithmic art, theme styling, internal comms and document co-authoring. It also contains the Agent Skills specification and a template for writing your own.

How to install

In Claude Code run /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills, then /plugin install document-skills@anthropic-agent-skills or example-skills@anthropic-agent-skills. On Claude.ai the same example skills are already available on paid plans, and custom skills can be uploaded there. Other SKILL.md-compatible agents can copy individual skill folders.

Pricing and rights

Free to use. Many skills are Apache-2.0; the document skills (docx, pdf, pptx, xlsx) are published source-available for reference rather than under an open-source licence, so check each folder's LICENSE before reusing them. Anthropic labels the repo as demonstration and educational material, and behaviour inside Claude may differ.
