What it is

Seedream is the text-to-image and image-editing model family from ByteDance's Seed research team, the company behind TikTok and CapCut. The current flagship is Seedream 5.0 Pro, which appeared on partner platforms around July 2026, alongside Seedream 5.0 Lite and the earlier Seedream 4.5 and 4.0.

Where you can use it

ByteDance's own CapCut AI image generator (Seedream 5.0) and Dreamina (Seedream 5.0 Pro, 5.0 Lite, 4.5), plus BytePlus ModelArk for API access. Third-party apps that document it: Krea (Seedream 4.5, 5 Lite, 5.0 Pro), Picsart (Seedream 5.0 Pro), Higgsfield, OpenArt (Seedream 4.5) and ComfyUI partner nodes (5.0 Pro, 5.0 Lite, 4.5, 4.0). It is also on Replicate.

Pricing and rights

On Replicate, Seedream 5.0 Pro costs $0.045 per 1K image and $0.09 per 2K image. Dreamina gives free daily credits and sells paid plans, but shows prices only after sign-in, so we list no subscription price. Commercial rights depend on the app you generate in; check CapCut's, Dreamina's or the partner's terms. We found no ByteDance statement on C2PA or invisible watermarking for Seedream outputs.

Who it is for

Short-form video creators already in CapCut, e-commerce sellers making product variations, and developers who want a cheap, capable image API.

Verdict

Seedream 5.0 Pro gives strong reference-driven results at a low price and is easy to reach through CapCut and many aggregators. Official English documentation is thin, and resolution stops at 2K on the Pro model.
