What it is

Firefly Image is Adobe's in-house image generation model family. The current version, Firefly Image Model 5, was announced at Adobe MAX on 28 October 2025 and entered public beta that day; Adobe's Firefly page still lists it as the latest Firefly image model in September 2026. It is separate from the partner models (Google, OpenAI, Black Forest Labs and others) that also run inside the Firefly app.

Where you can use it

In the Adobe Firefly web and mobile app, and in Adobe's Creative Cloud apps such as Adobe Express and Photoshop, where Firefly powers generative features. Adobe also offers Firefly Services APIs for enterprises. We found no third-party creative app that offers Firefly Image as a selectable model.

Pricing and rights

Firefly plans (US, September 2026): Standard $9.99 per month (2,000 credits), Pro $19.99 (4,000 credits, includes Express Premium and Photoshop web), Pro Plus $49.99 (10,000 credits, 30% off the first year) and Premium $199.99 (50,000 credits, 30% off the first year). Paid plans include unlimited standard image generation; video, audio translation and partner models use credits. Adobe markets Firefly models as commercially safe, and all Firefly outputs include Content Credentials showing AI was used.

Who it is for

Brand, agency and in-house design teams who need defensible commercial use and already work in Adobe tools.

Verdict

Firefly Image 5 is the safest-feeling choice for commercial work, with clean provenance and tight Adobe integration. Its creative range trails the leading general models, which is why many Firefly users switch to the partner models inside the same app.
