What it is

The ElevenLabs MCP server is the official, ElevenLabs-hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp. It lets an MCP client such as Claude create speech audio from text and manage ElevenLabs voice agents from a chat. It replaced the older local elevenlabs-mcp Python server, which ElevenLabs archived in August 2026 and marked deprecated in favour of the hosted version.

How to install

In Claude, open Settings > Connectors, search for ElevenLabs and connect, then complete the OAuth sign-in. For other MCP clients, point the client at https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp (or your regional URL) as a remote HTTP server. The archived local server (uvx elevenlabs-mcp) still installs, but it is no longer maintained and exposed a wider tool set (voice cloning, transcription, audio isolation) that you should not rely on long term.

Pricing and rights

The server itself is free; generation uses your ElevenLabs credits. As of September 2026 the free plan gives 10k credits per month and does not allow commercial use. Starter costs $6 per month for 30k credits and includes a commercial licence, as do all higher paid plans.

Who it is for

Creators and developers who already use ElevenLabs and want to draft voiceovers or manage voice agents from Claude without switching to the web app.

Verdict

A clean, official way to reach ElevenLabs from an AI assistant, with OAuth instead of API keys. The hosted tool list leans toward the Agents platform and is narrower than the retired local server, so heavy audio production still belongs in the ElevenLabs app or API.
