What is ElevenLabs?

What it is

ElevenLabs is a US/UK voice AI company whose creator suite (now branded ElevenCreative) turns text into speech, clones voices, dubs video into other languages, and generates sound effects and music. The same models are sold to developers through the ElevenLabs API, and the company also runs voice-agent products for businesses.

Models inside

Speech runs on ElevenLabs' own models: Eleven v3 (the most expressive, 70+ languages) and Flash v2.5 for low latency. Music comes from Eleven Music (Music v2, with v2.5 in the API). The video page lists third-party models including Veo 3.1, Kling 3, Runway Gen-4 Aleph and LTX V2.

Pricing and rights

As of September 2026 the free plan gives 10,000 credits a month with no commercial licence (personal use only, including for music). Starter costs $6/month for 30,000 credits and adds the commercial licence and instant cloning. Creator is $22/month (121,000 credits, first month half price), Pro $99 (600,000), Scale $299 (1.8M, 3 seats) and Business $990 (6M, 10 seats). Unused credits roll over for up to two months, and annual billing gives two months free. Music on self-serve plans may be used commercially except in film, TV and studio games, which need an Enterprise licence. Cloning requires you to confirm consent, and a Professional Voice Clone must be your own voice: you pass a read-aloud voice captcha.

Verdict

ElevenLabs covers voice, dubbing, sound effects and music in one studio, and its speech quality and language coverage are hard to match. The catch is cost: credits are shared across every feature, so long projects or music use them up quickly, and serious volume pushes you onto the $99+ tiers.
