What it is

Comfy MCP is the first-party Model Context Protocol integration from Comfy Org, the company behind ComfyUI, launched in June 2026. It comes in two forms: comfy-mcp, an open-source local server that drives your own ComfyUI install, and Comfy Cloud MCP at cloud.comfy.org/mcp, which runs workflows on Comfy's GPUs with no local install.

How to install

Local: pip install comfy-mcp "comfy-cli>=1.14.0", then comfy install and comfy launch, and register it in Claude Code with claude mcp add comfy-mcp -- comfy-mcp. ComfyUI must already be running. Cloud: add https://cloud.comfy.org/mcp as a remote server and sign in with OAuth or an API key.

Pricing and rights

The local server and local generation are free on your own hardware; partner-model nodes spend Comfy credits. Comfy Cloud gives 5 free GPU runs, then Standard costs $16 per month, billed on active GPU time only. Output rights depend on the checkpoints and partner models you use.

Who it is for

ComfyUI users who want an agent to build and run workflows, and creators without a GPU who want ComfyUI pipelines on Comfy Cloud.

Verdict

The official route into ComfyUI for agents, with both local and cloud options. The local server is still beta and needs a working ComfyUI setup, so beginners will find the cloud version easier.
