What is Hootsuite?
What it is
Hootsuite is one of the original social media management suites, used by agencies and large brands to schedule posts, manage a shared inbox, run social listening and report on performance. Its AI teammate, Wisdom, drafts posts and images, recommends timing and analyses results, and Hootsuite also offers trend forecasting up to 90 days ahead.
Key features
- Scheduling and calendar for 10 accounts (Standard) or unlimited accounts (Professional and up)
- Unified inbox for comments and messages
- Social listening and trend forecasting
- Wisdom AI teammate that drafts posts, generates images and analyses performance
- Approval workflows and team roles
- Mobile apps for iOS and Android
Models inside
Hootsuite does not name the models behind Wisdom or its post and image generation on its pricing pages.
Pricing and rights
Hootsuite's plan page lists annual prices per user: Standard $99/user/mo (10 social accounts), Professional $199/user/mo (unlimited accounts), Advanced $399/user/mo, and custom Enterprise. Month-to-month billing is available at a higher rate that the page does not show. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card, limited to 10-20 posts a day per organisation. Nonprofits can apply for a discount. There is no free plan.
Who it is for
Agencies, enterprises and social teams that need listening, a shared inbox, approvals and reporting in one place. It also fits regulated industries that need approvals, audit trails and a single inbox for customer conversations across many accounts. Small businesses that only need to queue posts on three or four channels will pay far more than they need to, and should compare Buffer or Metricool first.
Verdict
Hootsuite covers the full social workflow and suits organisations with compliance and reporting needs. For solo creators it is hard to justify: per-user prices start at $99 a month on annual billing, and simpler tools cover scheduling for a fraction of that.
Pros
- Broad suite: scheduling, inbox, listening, analytics
- AI drafting and trend forecasting
- 14-day trial without a card
- Mature approvals and team roles
Cons
- Starts at $99 per user per month (annual)
- Monthly-billing prices not published
- No free plan
- Overkill for individual creators
